BIOGRAPHY

Christine Hill (b.1948)

A painter, illustrator, draftsman*, and educator, Christine Hill was born in Kent, England and has lived in New South Wales, Australia since the 1970s. Her current home is in Thirroul (about 50 miles south of Sydney). She is a self taught artist. Her mediums include watercolor, oil, pastel, acrylic and pencil. Her subjects include figures, genre*, historic events, weather phenomenon, astronomy, landscapes and marine scenes. Her styles include Modernism*, Plein-Air Painting* and Realism*.

She is a member of the Peninsula Art Society and is a Fellow, and past Vice President, of the Australian Society of Marine Artists. In 2008 and 2009, she was Artist-in-Residence at the CSIRO Australia Telescope National Facilities in Narrabri and Parkes.

She wrote and illustrated the book The Journey of Tom Thumb II: Bass and Flinders explore the Illawarra coast, March 1796
